Pacific Wood Products New Zealand is a subsidiary of Pan Pac Forest Products. The mill specializes in manufacturing Make-to-Order products from raw wood which has been harvested from wood stock owned by Pan Pac. The wood is grown and managed on the Pan Pac estate. Pacific Wood Products has a range of offerings which include interior joinery products, exterior flexible lineal mouldings and their trademarked Clearboard™ which is used for furniture manufacturing.

Before implementing Decision One, scheduling in the plant was managed by a variety of manual systems which were difficult to control, change and maintain. Manufacturing processes are complex and different products cross paths in the facility as they are being produced - the lack of clear planning and good visibility led to delivery delays of the finished goods. In a Make-to-Order environment, every late order is a disgruntled customer.

With the implementation of Decision One, the first and most important dramatic change was the increased Order ON TIME delivery. The daily use of Decision One gives everyone concerned a view of the current schedule. Questions are few and answers are plenty with the system being maintained as production progresses.

Thus the stress of dealing with unhappy customers is gone and the efficiency of delivering what they say they will when they say they will has become a reality for the people at Pacific Wood Products in far away New Zealand.
