In this episode of our Conversations with Glen Taylor video series, Glen discusses his purchase of the Star Tribune. Facing bankruptcy, the Star Tribune was bought out by an equity group, who subsequently put the newspaper up for sale. Recognizing its importance as a mainstay in Minnesota’s history and culture, Glen bought the Star Tribune. Glen's hands-off approach to editorial content and strategic guidance was an important part of growing the Star Tribune’s reach.
Focusing on future goals of the newspaper, Glen aimed for 250,000 digital subscribers while maintaining some print subscribers, emphasizing the need for technological advancements and adapting to changing industries. Though there were industry challenges, the Tribune's ability to adapt and serve smaller communities effectively through digital platforms was helped in part by Glen’s leadership.
